Ranks are very important to felypti. There are six ranks among the river felypti:

~~ Priest
~~ Magician
~~ Scribe
~~ Hunter
~~ Fisher
Felypti are born into a rank, and can not change that rank unless they use a ranking stone. It is not possible to use a ranking stone to become a royal.
Ranks are not classes, though 'raising' a rank may imply otherwise. What more accurately covers it is that a felypti changes from one rank to another, and the order of the ranks affects which rank a felypti changes to.
The order shown above is the order in which a felypti must change ranks. For example, a scribe must raise its rank to magician before it can become a priest. Think of it as skill levels. A felypti has to become a magician before it can become a priest because it must learn the skills necessary to carry a priest rank.
Each of the six ranks is very important, and each one adds to the health and security of a sett.
Fisher
A fisher is precisely that, a felypti that fishes. Queen Flora's felypti live on the river and have adapted their lives to center around the bounty of the environment. Thus, a felypti who is an adept fisher is very beneficial to a sett, as fishers help provide food caught from and around the river.
Hunter
Hunters are just as important as the fishers. Hunters will also provide for the sett, but their source is the surrounding wilderness, not the river upon which the felypti live.
Scribe
Felypti find it very important to preserve records of their lives. Scribes are responsible for this. Scribes are necessary to keep the records of the generations of felypti that have passed before and those that have yet to come. In addition to record keeping, scribes also maintain the culture of the felypti, passing down the stories, superstitions, and traditions of the sett.
Magician
Magicians are responsible for a great deal. They use their magic to protect the sett, heal injured felypti, and seek out food or enemies. Only magicians and royals are allowed to wear jewelry.
Priest
One of the most important ranks among the felypti, the priests are responsible for the knowledge of the felypti. They are the educators of the other members, and often serve as advisors to the governing female. A priest felypti is celibate, and to become a priest via a ranking stone, a felypti may not have participated in a breeding in the past.
Royal
A felypti may become a royal through birth only. Royals are direct descendants of the queens that have come before, and royals can only be female. Royals within a sett always act as governing female. Only magicians and royals are allowed to wear jewelry.
